LOVE YOUR RIGHT: AN R&B TYPE MUSICAL tells the story of a fictional R&B Superstar Will Clay (portrayed by Mark JP Hood of NBC’s The Voice, The Resident, Black Monday, Chicago PD, and more). A series of events spiral out of control, shattering the R&B star’s fame, fortune, and friendships. To regain perspective, Will Clay must battle with self-love and reconnect with what’s truly important - love. This unique story stands out among the stories of pain and hardship to remind people of the power of true love. & true friendship.
MEET OUR CHARACTERS
WILL CLAY (portrayed by Mark J.P. Hood)
Protagonist Will Clay has risen to fame and become the R&B sensation he always envisioned. Or so he thinks. Oozing with sex appeal and mystic, women flock to him just to be in his presence. His success is credited to his consistency and hard work; making 5 platinum albums and selling out tours worldwide. Will is willing to do anything to stay on top, but soon learns that fame and fortune can come at a price.
SHARDAE (portrayed by Milaya S. Gregory)
Best friends from childhood, Shardae was with Will on his journey to fame and fortune from the beginning. When the superstar’s life spirals out of control, Shardae begins to question if their history is enough to keep their best friend bond.
KIAIRA K (portrayed by Maysa Naima)
A femme fatale with an attitude to match. Nothing gets between her and her goals, her man, and her strive for success. Girlfriend of Will, Kiaira helps the superstar rise to success by any means.
KAMAL (portrayed by Marquis Valdez)
Kamal is another childhood friend of Will and has seen the superstar’s rise to fame. Always there for his friend, Kamal is conflicted once the superstar appears to be too busy for his group of friends.
RODNEY (portrayed by Don Cephas)
Opportunist, Rodney, also made sure he was in on Will’s journey from a young age. Becoming his manager, Rodney becomes the superstar’s right-hand man.
TAO (portrayed by Joseph Yu)
Tao is the fourth member of their childhood friend group, and like the others sees the superstar from his early days to his current fame.
STACI G (portrayed by Leah Jenea)
Up-and-coming on the music scene, the electric songstress Staci is introduced to Will in the recording studio. Kiaira and Rodney also take a liking to her talented vocals and her drive for stardom.
